Seattle in Google earth
I just discovered something interesting tonight for fans of the Fremont Parade. If you go to Google earth and try cruising Seattle in street view, you may notice that the quality of the street view photography is exceptional - better than any other city I have looked at. Why? I don't know - maybe Bill Gates, a local boy, underwrote the cost of the better pictures. Anyway, cruising the Fremont district is almost as good as being there. My own photos are no better in quality than the street view camera photos here!
To show you what I mean, below is Google earth's pic of the pre-ride bodypainting area I photographed in 2007. The next pic shows one of my shots from the same location but a slightly different angle. Incredibly, the Google street view photo is equal in quality to mine (which was taken with an expensive Canon camera).
I've traversed the whole parade route in Google and it is exceptional. Anyone contemplating attending this parade ought to try it!
enjoy,
Klondike
