Magazines look for a release to protect themselves as well as proof of the models age, however if you shoot an image you can display it anywhere (within reason, using common sense)

Firstly, yeah, the photographer does indeed have the right to the pictures. However, when I approach people for a shoot part of the negotiation is that we agree that the pictures won't be used online (or whatever.) Put bluntly, it is cheaper if the photographer agrees to keep the pictures private.
That said, many models are happy to let me do whatever I choose with images. What is quite common is for photographers to upload to directories that can be accessed with a free password.
To elaborate- I wasn't (just) talking about myself- if anyone fancied shooting the "dream set" , it can be done cheaply- and it is wonderful fun! Also, chat to the model- and if you and her are comfortable, they can be shared on sites like this one.
Can I post some links to directories? Let me know- there are several good ones around, some more "adult" than others.
