Perhaps no high school football rivalry in the nation was as bitter as the annual Thanksgiving Day season-ending game between the Beaver Falls High Bears and their cross-town rivals, the Twin Peaks High Eagles.

And while the football players from both schools disliked each other, the cheerleaders from the rival centers of learning absolutely hated one another. Nowhere was that rivalry more heated than between head Beaver Falls cheerleader Holly and the captain of Twin Peaks’ cheer squad Muffy.

On the morning before the noon kickoff, Holly and Muffy decided to settle their personal longstanding rivalry with a rip-roaring private catfight at a neutral site.

Long story short, the capacity crowd of 10,000 people on hand at Beaver Falls Field that day had a lot to be thankful for, letting out a thunderous cheer after witnessing a very embarrassed and very naked and defeated Muffy strapped to the large Beaver Falls drum and paraded up and down the field during the half time show.

Holly, holding Muffy’s tattered cheerleading uniform high above her head, was carried shoulder-high by her fellow Beaver Falls cheerleaders ahead of the crying and bound Muffy.

Twin Peaks went on to win that game but you could not blame Muffy for skipping the victory celebration. She certainly did not feel like a winner that day or, for that matter, on any day for the rest of her life.
