Jackie vs. Marilyn Part 2
Both Jackie and Marilyn had had sexual relationships with Peter Lawford, Marilyn’s neighbor in the influential section of Brentwood in Southern California.
Jackie literally pumped British actor Lawford for information about Marilyn’s comings and goings. She learned that by late July Marilyn was in a depressed state of mind.
More than once, Marilyn had to have her stomach pumped for overdosing on sleeping pills. And Marilyn spent nearly every day at her psychiatrist’s office.
Jackie knew that with Marilyn’s diminished capacity she could defeat her if she could quickly demoralize Marilyn by any means necessary.
When Lawford let it slip to Jackie that Marilyn’s live-in caregiver, Eunice Murray, would be out for the evening of Aug. 4 and that Marilyn would be alone, Jackie saw her window of opportunity to settle the issue once and for all.
Jacqueline Kennedy, who had become a worldwide symbol of fashion for women, decided to wear that night a pink Chanel business suit and knee-length skirt with a wide black collar, her trademark matching pink pillbox hat, pink (size 10 AA) stiletto heels and white gloves.
Underneath, she put on a conservative pink one-piece swimsuit, similar to what she had seen women wrestlers wear on televised pro wrestling matches.
Jackie really didn’t know what to wear to a catfight, having never been in one before. She simply felt she would wear the clothes she was used to wearing to provide her the most comfort and security.
Fight Prelude
After shaking off her Secret Service bodyguards, Jackie sat in a rental car a short distance from Marilyn’s Mexican-style bungalow shortly after dark going over how she was going to bring Marilyn down.
She pondered how the two women indeed were a study in contrasts.
Jackie Bouvier was the pristine society girl who enjoyed a meteoric rise to the top. Marilyn, born Norma Jeane Baker, was the bastard daughter of a woman who went insane and a father who abandoned Marilyn early on, forcing Marilyn to claw her way to the top inch-by-inch.
While Jackie was a handsome and romantic lady, Marilyn beamed with the sexual radiance of a thousand white suns. Jackie was thin and angular. Marilyn was curvy with a terrific set of boobs.
JFK had met both women in 1951. He was taken by both Marilyn’s sex-goddess status and Jackie’s prim and proper lady-like demeanor. He could marry only one, and chose Jackie because she would better further his political ambitions.
But for 11 years, playboy John kept seeing the movie star Marilyn and, in the process, she became a serious rival to his wife.
But, Jackie had an advantage knowing that Marilyn had underrated the demure Jackie’s passion for revenge.
Willi Frischauer, who wrote a biography for billionaire Artistotle Onassis, Jackie’s future husband, later would describe Jackie as “a diamond -- cool, sharp at the edges, fiery and hot beneath the surface.”
As if Jackie needed any more encouragement to beat up Marilyn, she thumbed through a secret file a friend had given her about John and Marilyn’s affair.
She steamed as she read how Marilyn had bedded not only her husband, but also her husband’s brother Bobby – at practically the same time. Marilyn was often seen dancing or having intimate conversations at private parties with Bobby or John, the documents showed.
Jackie thumbed through FBI documents that said the Mafia was keeping an eye on Marilyn who was clueless about how much danger she was in.
If worse had come to worse that night and Jackie had to use the gun she carried in her purse to shoot Marilyn gangland style, Jackie thought organized crime figures would be the perfect scapgoat for the murder.
Meanwhile, Jackie cringed as she read about how John would meet Marilyn at Lawford’s home and the two would make love in a big bathtub or in the shower.
Jackie read another account that in March of that year Marilyn and John had spent a weekend alone together in Palm Springs, Fla.
There was no question in Jackie’s mind that somehow she had to get Marilyn naked during the fight and abuse the very parts of Marilyn’s great body that had brought her husband so much pleasure.
If Jackie had any thoughts of turning back at that point, they quickly disappeared as she looked over phone records that showed John had given Marilyn his private number so that she could reach him anytime through the Justice Department.
“I’ll fix her,” Jackie thought.
The Fight
Jackie exhaled. “No time like the present,” she said aloud to herself.
Jackie got out of her rental car, grabbed her tripod, camera and purse, walked to Marilyn’s front door and knocked.
Marilyn, not expecting any company that night, went to answer the door wearing just a sheer blue babydoll nightie –no bra or panties – and a pair of high-heeled open-toed slippers with tiny blue feather decorations on top.
Thinking that it was her friends, B movie actress Jeanne Carmen or movie star Terry Moore, coming by to pay an unannounced visit, Marilyn was shocked to see Jackie Kennedy standing there in the doorway.
Both women’s eyes were as large a saucers as they looked at each other – Jackie because Marilyn was nearly naked and Marilyn because in her wildest nightmares she could not imagine the First Lady visiting her.
Not one to waste a golden opportunity, Jackie thought quickly, grabbed the front of Marilyn’s nightie and tore it off in one swoop. Then Jackie kicked out with her right foot, catching Marilyn between her big boobs and sending the starlet sprawling on her livingroom floor, legs spread.
Jackie came in, closed the door and locked it. She put down her camera equipment as a shaken Marilyn propped herself up on both elbows. Jackie quickly put the sharply pointed toe of her high heel shoe on Marilyn’s pubic bone and said, “Not so fast. We have to talk.”
