Today on Voyeurweb pics of the Portland WNBR and the London WNBR.
|
The Portland ones are OK (ish), the London ones are stolen Flikr shots from the 2007 ride!
I found these comments on Flikr which goes some way to showing the shortage of ladies pics from London this year....
I've been shooting WNBR since I first heard about it back in 2006. I followed the Photo policy every year and have not taken one photograph without permission (quick chat, eye contact, etc.) . Hell, I even sent HQ copies to three of the riders via eMail because they requested me to do so. All in all, it was fun, even for me with my pants on!!!
With the same image in mind, I showed up in Hyde Park today for another shoot. Guess what I saw... Riders in the middle, photographers barred behind the tape and desperately circling around for an opportunity. While many, as usual, were having fun with their mobile phones and not caring the least bit about the rules, those who did care, like myself, were having a hard time trying to take a decent photo.
Forgive my ignorance, but how the hell am I supposed to take photos "with permission" if the person is standing meters away and I have no way to get close and talk to them in person?
Rules are there to avoid problems. Staff are there to enforce the rules. But the tapes... and the unnecessary paranoia from some of the staff (e.g. the dude with his ridiculous "this photograph was taken without permission" sign) ruined the whole damn thing for me today: The fun, the free spirit, and the not so difficult to follow policy. I shot only nine photographs. All will be emailed to the friendly people who allowed me to shoot. None will be public this year. Because I am very [bleeep]in' pissed off!
See you next year.
Maybe!
