A close friend of mine was recently killed in a car crash in Northern Vermont. Since he and I were in the military together, his mom gave me a few boxes of his that had stuff from his military days. I came across a photo album that had “the book” written on the cover and inside were all of these pictures. I know my buddy was a ladies man, but no way were these his girl friends…heck, he was married for about 20-some years when he died. Of course, now you can see why she gave this stuff to me and not his wife! Anyhow, I called a few buds of mine that had also served with him and they said when my friend was a drill instructor, these pictures were sent in the mail by his recruit’s girl friends to be put on their platoon’s “hog board.” Apparently, a “hog board’ was some kind of motivation tool for the recruits to keep them going. Anyhow, since he is gone now, I figured why not share them with the rest of the world? I mean, if these girls were sending them in to be put on a board for strangers to see, they wouldn’t have a problem with me doing the same, right? According to the dates, these pictures were taken in between 1984-1994, so I suppose most of these girls would be in their late 30’s. Anyhow, this one is for you brother!
