But even on the none nude section about half the women go topless. So I just make sure we book our beach holidays accordingly now so at least I can enjoy the sight of my wife's tits, and the breasts of the majority of the other women there, even if I know I'll never get to see female friends' casually exposing theirs.
So it's sad what you say about the Barcelona beaches you were on having pretty few topless women. However if you sought out the nude beaches, even if yilou stuck to the non nude section, I suspect it would be a lot lot more women with their breasts out. I was literally talking to someone last week who'd just come back from Barcelona and said it was rife on the right beach.

Even at the height of the topless era in the late 90s and early 2000s, it was a stroke of luck to go to the beach with female friends and have them go topless. It could happen, but it wasn't the norm. The usual thing was that if you went with female friends, they kept their tops on. The real opportunity was bumping into them by chance when they were already topless, though they would usually cover up. I only had a couple of times where they didn't cover up, and back then I basically spent the whole summer at the beach.
What did happen more often was running into an acquaintance who was topless. You know, the kind of person you just say hi to when passing on the street. It was especially awesome when the chick was hot. Seeing her all covered up in winter, totally out of reach, and then suddenly bumping into her topless! And, of course, back in those days you'd see a lot of random women topless.
All of that is gone now. And it's a shame. But it is what it is. I've always been left wanting to go to the beach with my wife and other married couples and have the wives go topless. In the early 2000s, the girlfriends I had didn't go topless.
As for nude beaches, it's true: you see tits. That's why they're nude beaches. Everyone is naked, or at least they should be. The ones you mentioned being half nude, half not, usually aren't traditionally nude beaches. They tend to be beaches where nudism started gaining ground in the mid-90s until it reached a 50-50 split, or 30-70, 40-60... depending on the specific case and the layout of the beach. For example, if we look at a 50-50 beach, back then it was 50% nude, 50% topless. Today it's 50% nude, 50% bikini and swimsuits. People who go to the textile section of a mixed beach don't go there to be topless; they just go for the beach itself. Because of that, the percentage of girls you'll see topless there is pretty much the same as on any regular beach (except for heavily family-oriented ones, where it's even rarer). What is true is that you'll see a lot of boobs, simply because the nude section is right there. But, honestly, it's just not the same. It doesn't have the same thrill. And, either way, what's incredibly difficult now is going to a nude beach with a female friend. Unless she's an actual naturist. But that whole scenario of going to the beach and getting the surprise of her taking off her bra... that's increasingly a thing of the past.
It's a real pity. So many years of progress in liberation, and it's all been lost in such a short time... I read a comment saying this already happened in France in the early 2000s, and between 2010 and now it’s happened in Spain. I also read someone saying that you don't see topless in Greece anymore either (I was in the Greek islands in the late 2000s and topless was the absolute norm). Anyway, a wave of puritanism is sweeping across Europe.
All of this is just my experience and my perception. Obviously, it's not the absolute truth, and I don't mean to say that other points of view aren't just as valid as mine.
