When I was in college, I had a female friend named Aries. She was the cousin of a friend’s girlfriend. She was beautiful and had a great sense of humor. In the beginning, I had a bit of a crush on her, but I never showed it. During that time, I was also dating other girls, and she had her own romantic interests. Later, she transferred to a school that was farther away.
A few years later, after everyone had entered the workforce, I unexpectedly ran into Aries in the same city. I felt she had become even more mature and beautiful. At the time, her boyfriend was still in the city where they had gone to school, so they were in a long-distance relationship. I would often invite Aries out to watch movies or grab a meal — the kind of things close friends do.
One time, we had planned to go to a well-known bar, but it was too crowded and we couldn’t get in. So we ended up at my place, chatting while watching Netflix. She told me that things with her boyfriend weren’t going well and that they were taking a break from each other. After drinking a bit, her emotions got the better of her and she started crying. In that atmosphere, I held her and kissed her. She didn’t resist, and that night we ended up having sex. When I dropped her off early the next morning, we still kissed, and I thought something might develop between us after that night.
But the next time we had dinner, she happily told me that she and her boyfriend had made up. I didn’t say much — I just told her I was happy for her — and we continued treating each other like friends.
Many years have passed since then. I’m married now, and she also has someone she’s preparing to marry. That night only remains as a memory in my heart. Sometimes when I think about it, I still feel a little regret — regret that I didn’t take the initiative more actively back then.
