I've been following the discussion about Portland's ride here and in the Fremont thread. Here are my thoughts about this year, and a pic from 2018.

- There were at least 5000 participants this year. About 50/50 male/female. And many of the women were naked. I saw hundreds of different pussies, no exaggeration. There's nothing quite like it.

- Yes, the ride leaves at sunset, so it's tough to take photos. The start point this year was in a park with lots of trees, making the light even worse.

- The participants will literally yell at photographers, shouting loudly "put the camera away" - and then other participants join in the chant. Some may physically approach you. While you have the right (see below) to take photos, it could get scary. What are you going to do - call your lawyer while surrounded by an angry mob?

- Photos are totally legal. Their official website shows the following, but the participants do not care that it's legal:

Can I take photos? Photography is discouraged. Many riders trust that their privacy will be respected, some even risk professional consequences if seen participating. Please do not take photos unless you’re a credentialed media partner with explicit permission. If someone asks you to put your camera away, honor the request. Do not take pictures of specific people without asking their consent first.

Will people take photos of me? Taking photographs and video of things that are plainly visible in public spaces is a constitutional right, so it’s possible. However, photography is discouraged (please see above, “Can I take photos?”).

People just aren’t posting. I was able to snag a few pics when I participated last year, I arrived late too. Just be discreet about it and you’ll be fine. It helps when you’re actually participating in the ride and not and acting/looking creepy. I’m surprised we don’t have more footage of the event considering how prevalent smart glasses are becoming.
