That is indeed why it was closed down, so congrats for accuracy. But "the government", in this case, means "the state of Florida". I think it was the gory war photos combined with porn that whipped some people into a frenzy.
It's too bad because not only did it have some great porn, but it also had some on-the-ground photos of the war in Iraq. Some of it was (very) gory but mostly it was just unfiltered photos from the perspective of the soldiers.
Of course, the owner of the site agreed not to ever use the photos again in order to avoid prosecution for... whatever the fuck it was.
