Apprentice.
1950's. Aged 18, awaiting Call-Up, but "deffered" due to being an Apprentice. So you had to attend Night School, at a Local Primary School (!), 3 or 4 nights each week, for the remainder of your Training. Conscription usually @ 21. I'd encountered this Girl on many occasions, during Boy Scout/Girl Guide Church Parades. This particular evening, I walked out of the School Gate, Drawing Board tucked under my arm, and marched off homeward through the light drizzel. "Are you waiting, then ?" a voice chimed from under an unbrella, secluded in the gloom. SHE was there ! Waiting for ME ! I walked her the full mile home, completely the wrong way for me, sharing her brolly all the way to her Front Door. We embraced, a light peck on the lips as she entered. Over the coming years, mainly due to the existance of her younger brother, THE "number-one-son", things got VERY, VERY, complex ! And expensive !
