We've been going to the same resort for years now, and we are familiar with many of the regulars there. So if my wife is in a "naked mood" that day, around them she can easily rationalize that they've likely already seen her "nooks and crannies" at some point while doing "normal" activities. So she's going to be pretty relaxed, especially if it's people she knows and like to talk to. And boy does she love to talk and talk. So for her, it's not that big a deal in those moments if the person she's talking to gets an "eyeful." But it's not exactly "being brave." It's just being comfortable and confident - in that moment.

A few years back we transitioned from clothing-optional resorts to our current "nude-mandatory" one. The hardest thing my wife told me was going from covering up to walk around; to staying naked the entire time.
But she got used to it pretty quickly. As a matter of fact she now prefers it that way: because the people that see her nude are also all naked. There isn't the "imbalance" she used to experience at clothing-optional places.
