Had a similar experience by very recently in a major European city at a public swimming pool with two saunas. One of the saunas was female only until a specific time, I was in the mixed sauna (which was 80% male) until then and then went over. I'm not sure there were any that were surprised, but it was nice to be able to go there while they were finishing up, showering, getting dressed. None of them seemed shy or to cover up more than usual.
