Many years ago one of my female friends, Ruth (who was 35 at the time), had a medical problem and was referred to the local hospital for and internal examination. When she arrived at the hospital a nurse talked her through what the examination entailed and gave her a gown to wear, stressing that she could keep her bra on under the gown, but no other clothing was to be worn.
A little while later the nurse came back to her cubical to collect Ruth and as she was walking to the examination room the nurse explained the procedure again, and casually added that the doctor was being shadowed by some second year medical school trainee doctors and asked if Ruth would be happy for the consultant to have them present to observe the examination as part of their practical experience requirements. Ruth told her that she would be happy to help. So when they arrived at the cubicle, the nurse gave Ruth the consent forms for allowing the trainee doctors to observe the consultant and to go through the procedure.
The nurse helped Ruth up onto the gynecological examination bed, where she was laid flat on her back with her legs strapped wide apart on the leg rests. The Doctor entered the room with the trainee's, and sat between Ruth's legs performing an internal examination, firstly with his fingers, and then using a speculum and torch to see inside, before finally using a vaginal camera, explaining what he was doing to the trainee's.
He then asked Ruth if she was still happy for the trainee's to examine her under his supervision, before letting each of the six trainee's to undertake one of the three exams under his guidance. Once the six trainee's had finished her legs were lowered and she was able to cover herself up, and sit up.
It was at this pint that she saw the trainee's for the first time, and realised that one of male trainee's was her next door neighbours eldest grandson son, who had recently moved to the hospital and was living at his grandmothers house.
