It definitely goes both ways. I met my wife in grad school but we didn't start dating until after we had graduated, moved to the same city, and were one of the few people we each knew. Before that she and I were friendly but never were interested in each other in a sexual or romantic way. After she and I got serious, she told me that our first year in grad school she had been hooking up on the DL with a guy who ended up being one of my good friends, Brad. It was a bit surprising but also not surprising because I knew he was always good with the ladies.
But the funniest part is that she told me she knows he also had slept with the wives of two of my other friends from our class (but Brad wasn't friends with them at the time). One of them occurred when she was on a break from my friend before they got engaged. The other was also first year. My wife doesn't think they have told their husbands.
