I understand this so much. For me, we go on trips with my wife's family a lot. I am pretty sure my wife's sister hasn't had sex with her husband since their last kid was created 7 years ago, so for me it's seeing my wife's sister go into her bedroom at the cabin or hotel suite and come out in different clothes, knowing that she was just naked in front of her husband and he gets to see her change (although he probably doesn't even look, but at least she's there changing in front of him). Then again, she might change with her back to him, who really knows.
But back to your story about seeing a condom in their tent...my wife and I used to have sex EVERYWHERE. Every trip, no matter who was around and no matter the sleeping arrangements. We always did it if we had our own space, and we always found ways to do it in shared spaces. People would walk into a hotel room or cabin literally seconds after we just finished having sex and got dressed in the nick of time, and the others had no clue we were just having sex in an open area 15 seconds before they walked in, for example. We even did it countless times in the middle of the night with her various family members sleeping next to us!! To be mid-20s again! We would probably still do it like that in our late 40s these days, but we don't share spaces with anyone anymore on these trips; her family is much too annoying, and our adult children want their space. Plus, ever since the second kid, my wife has become a massive squirter, so that's pretty hard to hide. It was easier to keep sexy times more discrete before two kids pushed their way out!
