My wife also sported a close trim (much like Mrs. Coupleak) before eventually going completely bald.
That decision was primarily driven by the fact that 90% of the women at our resort and her friends are all bald. So in her mind, she was merely adopting the same "look" as everyone else; with no notable distinction.
And to some degree, she is correct. She actually kinda looked bald before being bald. But then she shared with me that "exposure" felt a "little different." It was psychological, of course, because her labia was already visible pre-shaving when "exposed."
In her case, she thought it would be "weird" if she went back to trimmed; so she chose to just remain bald in social nudist settings. And just learn to be comfortable with that feeling of being "more exposed" when her vulva is visible.
