That was Cap D'Agde at a time when it was very much family-oriented; and pageants were still considered to be a wholesome celebration of youthful (naked) beauty.
At the time they probably thought that only other nudists and few people would see the pics ("Jeunes at Naturels" was one of the publications at the time), so they wouldn't be widely distributed. Many of them weren't French either, as people from all over Western Europe would spend their vacation there. So I'd guess they weren't too worried about their friends and neighbors seeing their naked pics.
Whether they stayed lifelong nudists - or not - is anyone's guess. The young lady in the pics is probably in her sixties now. I'd like to think she looks back on that time period with fondness.
I had a friend who did a pageant as a tween in the 80's in France; and she didn't express any negative feelings about it at all. But she didn't continue being a nudist as it was her parents that were more into it.
