Commandos in the Family
In the 1960s my mom worked as an accountant for the telephone company and was expected to wear business suits to work. This also included a slip, bra, underwear and hose. Being an avid nudist and used to the open freedom, she felt that wearing a bra, panties and hose was binding, uncomfortable, and promoted odors, rashes and yeast infections. After talking to a few ladies at camp she decided to ditch her panties and always went commando from then on. Her breasts were also rather firm so she rarely had to wear a bra, even to work.
The following summer, before the start of her last year in high school, my sister, Susan, also quit wearing panties. Like most other girls at school she wore a bra under her blouse, a short skirt or dress, but unlike the others she never wore panties. She has gone commando ever since, even to this day.
At that time skirt hems were generally a little below the knee for 'mature' ladies and a little above the knee for young ladies. As far as I know neither had any problems with their choice to go commando at work, school or in public. Early on the more easygoing Susan did experience a few accidental flashes, but she liked the freedom provided by the shorter skirts and dresses so decided to be more aware and remain panty free.
