I was around 18-20 in the early 2000s and that was the time I met my wife. She would see her class mates in the changing rooms before and after gym class. She told me about it and confirmed to me that almost all girls around that age did shave. At that time, at least here in Western Europe, thongs were becoming massively popular and they wouldn't cover a bush. And at the same time, shaving all the pubic hair had become popular too, this generation of girls born from the early to mid-1980s onwards preferred the quick and easy solution to simply shave all the hair away so they could wear thongs, instead of some trimming. It was also the time that there was a rise in feminine shaving products like the Gillette Venus razors. Girls would make fun of other girls that kept (even a bit of) pubic hair, and guys started to expect bare pussies. I've heard guys of around 18-20 years old say that they hated pubic hair on women and that they would absolutely refuse to perform oral sex on women who had even a little bit of pubic hair. So yeah, I guess that explains why so many young women shaved at that time, and I wouldn't be surprised if many of them who are now 35-45 years old have always kept their pussies shaved bare.
