Default Why Some Women Didn't Groom?

Over the years we have noted that most nudist women's attitudes regarding their pussies have changed. In the 1950s and 1960s almost all women sported full bushes. Only "models" and "racy" women trimmed or shaved, exposing their pussy's beauty. Our ( my wife, Julie, and I ) preference is for the shaved or well groomed pussy. We feel that it is far more attractive and desirable.

Julie, began pubic grooming by trimming her pubes and shaving her pussy in the mid 1970s. She and her family loved the way it looked and enhanced her beauty. It also made her feel more dignified, confident and enabled. Although, by the 1980s she noted that only a few women were practicing some level of grooming.

During that time we were members of a couple of non-landed nudist clubs. These clubs usually had weekend gatherings at local resorts or various private areas in the local mountains or the desert. A few of times per month they also held small introductory nude meet-ups ( 4 to 6 couples ) for dinner, drinks and conversation at member's homes during the midweek. At these meetings there were usually one or two "new, trying social nudism" couples. And it is the woman of these couples that have given Julie the greatest insight as to why more women were not practicing pubic grooming.

After a couple of relaxing drinks the couples were more at ease and open to express their misconceptions and unease with social nudism and other associated issues. Being the curious type, Julie wondered why none of the novice nudists at these meet-ups practiced pubic grooming. So she would privately ask these women about their grooming choices.

In time a common theme emerged. From their early youth these women were "taught" to believe that their pussies were unsightly and only useful for urination and sex. Typically, they were negative and very sensitive about the appearance of their pussies. In order not to offend their mates or others who may see it they tended to wear a pareo wrap or keep their pussy concealed with pubic hair and tightly closed legs. As for their mates, they felt that their penis and testicles were naturally exposed and it was alright because they looked nice.

By contrast Julie had always felt that a woman's pussy was a beautiful and desirable part of her body and that enhancing and displaying it's beauty brought pleasure to others. For her it wasn't a display for sexual purposes, but to express her creativity, confidence and boost her personal appeal. She knew that a well groomed appearance could only enhance her attractiveness.

Fast forward to today and you see that most male and female nudists groom at one level or another ( except maybe the odd old "hippie" ). Many women now share Julie's opinion that their bodies, including the genitals, should remain "unhidden" and allowed to be admired and even desired. Others groom in response to social pressure of not wanting to be the only "hairy" woman in their social nudist group.

As stated before, Julie was a pubic hair grooming trend setter at our nudist camp. In early 1974 she got tired of being seen as an unglamorous and demure young lady at camp. So almost overnight she transformed herself into a confident and popular young woman by first changing her hairstyle and then grooming her pubic hair. She trimmed her pubic mons closely and shaved the lower part of her pussy, the entire length of her labia majora up to her clitoris. It was definitely much more attractive than the hairiness that she had before. She loved how it felt and looked and also the added recognition and attention that she got from her friends. Within a few weeks her sister and mother followed suit.
