Yes, it is amazing how the usual female modesty is suspended in these situations.

For the labour and birth of our first child, my wife insisted on being naked throughout. She wouldn’t let the midwives cover her with a sheet. After she’d pushed it off couple of times, they gave up and let her lay there with nothing on.

I think the most likely reason she wanted to be that way was that it was more comfortable for her. It was fairly warm being a summer birth. It didn’t seem to bother her at all when anybody came into to the room regardless of whether they were male or female.

Who knows if she took exhibitionist pleasure in being naked front of people while she had a legitimate excuse for it. I can’t say one way or the other. She certainly wouldn’t admit to it, but has since shown signs of being that way inclined.

She is a nurse herself, so that might have has something to do with it. She’d probably have been sure that none of these people would be getting cheap thrills from seeing her naked. Maybe, she didn’t care because she just wanted to get the baby out of her.

The male consultant at the maternity unit spent a lot of time with us because he was a friend of a friend. At first, it seemed strange that she was unselfconsciously chatting away to this guy while completely nude. It wasn’t something I’d have expected her to do. After a while, I got used to it.

Years later, she had operation where the surgeon was someone we knew well. One of her friends asked her if she was not worried he would see her tits or whatever on the operating table. She said, “Look. If I thought for one minute that he actually wants to see me naked, I would willingly let him.”
