Another actress who was more than unhappy about having to appear nude was British actress Sally Geeson. However, unlike the others I have mentioned she was caught out by a wording of the contract that she had no idea what the meaning was until it was too late. Usually I have sources to link to add as reference to my entries on here, but for this one I have none. There WERE sources - I remember reading them - while on the now dead hamster site there were magazine pics of an interview that she gave at the time about how annoyed she was at the underhand way they tricked her into signing up for the nude scenes. However, they have since disappeared so you will just have to take my word for it.
Sally Geeson is now best known as Sid James' daughter in sitcom Bless This House (1971-76) and a few Carry On's. The sister of actress Judy Geeson, both started out as child actresses, with the younger Sally making her screen debut 3 years before Judy in Expresso Bongo in 1959. By the end of the 1960's she was still mainly an extra in films, with only half substantial roles in TV. But in 1969 Sally had the chance of a big break when she auditioned for the Norman Wisdom film What's Good For the Goose. It was a Swinging Sixties film where Wisdom picks up two teenage hitchhikers on the way to a business conference and ends up falling for the free spirited Sally. Sally was eager to of been given this chance and didn't question when the bosses asked her to sign up for the "European Version" as she presumed she would be dubbing dialogue for the overseas market.
Little did she know - like many actresses when asked to sign up for it - that instead of dubbing this was a racier version of what was permitted in the UK at the time. The most Sally thought she would be showing was in underwear. So when she was deep into filming the UK version the makers dropped their bombshell - she would have to reshoot a number of scenes with Wisdom again for the European Version, but this time she would have to be nude! Naturally Sally was not happy at having this sprung on her and apparently refused at first, only for them to tell her she was under contract and couldn't do anything about it, showing her the papers with her signature agreeing to do it and informing her that she could not do any other work until she had completed the film - nude scenes included! Only 18 when she did the film and knowing that legally she hadn't a leg to stand on, she reluctantly did the nude scenes but later let her feelings know in a magazine article after the film came out of what she thought of the makers underhand efforts to trap her into appearing nude.
Not that the UK audiences got to see much of it. While Sally was seen in her bra in bed with Norman Wisdom, overseas viewers got to see Sally bare breasted and for a decent amount of time too. There was also a scene when she lays in a bath naked while chatting to a friend that the UK did not see. Yet ironically the most embarrassing thing that Sally says she ever had to do in her career was the one nude scene that Britain DID get to see - the scene where she has to run naked on the beach with Norman Wisdom (and I even have a link as proof of that on IMDB here:
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0065205/trivia/). She was mortified at having to get naked on a public beach where people could be watching. Needless to say after being tricked into a contract waving away any objections to baring all on screen by sneaky filmmakers she never again did nude scenes in her career, which is a shame as I'm sure you'll all agree by these screenshots that she has nothing to be embarrassed about here. And if you want to see the video of the scenes and Sally's blushes for yourself, they are posted on burger1701's "Random TV/dvd cap" thread here:
