The universities have to know that that's what they're doing, right? Are these photo shoots mandated by the universities, or what? The girls seem happy to participate in them, at any rate; there are smiles all around. But if I was a young male college student attending one of these universities, these photos of my fellow classmates would be going up on my dorm room wall, if you know what I'm saying. Does anyone know anything about why these photos are taken and how they come to be, etc.? Have any female athletes written anywhere about they feel about participating in one of these photo shoots?

I think with NIL money and the Instagramification of everything, these young women see themselves as minor celebrities with personal brands to promote. So even something as mundane as official athletic department photos gets glammed up.
