My SIL, brother's wife, had to have emergency surgery on her knee due to an infection. My brother was in the last few weeks of a big project he had been working on for 2 years, he had to be on site for the finish, it was in a city 500 miles away. SIL's family was far away, so this left my wife and I to help her through recovery. We has a spare bedroom and rented a hospital bed for her to make her comfortable. She had been in ICU so she was delighted not to be there.
Susan has been MY SIL for over 35 years, we have zero attraction, but all get along very well. She is a nice person, a little snooty, not a model, but pleasant looking with an easy to get along disposition. She has brought their kids over to swim, but I've never seen her in a bathing suit. Now my wife is a nice person, but not good at caregiving, it's almost a family joke. But I fed Susan, got her to appointments, made sure she kept up with her meds, gave her the shots as directed. I counted on my wife for taking her to the bathroom and keeping her clean and bathed.
My wife is big into sewing and occasionally her friends have a sewing retreat, a weekend at a house where they sew and chat for a two days. I asked my wife to cancel the one that fell during the time SIL was with us. But she insisted Susan was better and could get to the bathroom with a walker and could bathe and change her clothes, Susan agreed, but I could tell she didn't want to hold back my wife's plans.
It didn't work out as easily as I hoped, I did have to help her change her gown and help her to the bathroom, so she did get exposed a bit, but I don't thing she was embarrassed due to the circumstances. Susan said my talents were wasted in IT, I was the best nurse she ever had.
