There are some actresses who surprise you just how old they actually are. One such person is Patricia Brake, who always seemed a youngster when appearing as Ingrid in Porridge (1974-77), but was actually in her 30's when she did the sitcom. Indeed, Patricia had been acting since she was 18 with her screen debut in 1960 in Emergency Ward 10, but how many knew that she had also bared all in her career? But she did, in a hard to get hold off film called My Lover, My Son (1970) (which may be apparent by the video being in a foreign language).

In it, Dennis Waterman (who doesn't sing the theme tune, I may add) tries to escape his rather too attentive mother (Romy Schneider). In this scene, he gets to grips with girlfriend Patricia Brake in the bedroom, as she strips naked and lies on the bed before pulling him on top of her to make love to her. This was her only ever nude scene and to be honest she doesn't look entirely chuffed to be baring all - just watch her expression when she takes off her bra. Could it be like Sally Geeson, who discovered that the "European Version" of What's Good For The Goose meant agreeing to nude scenes for the continental market only after she signed up? Whatever the reason, she still bares all like a trooper and it seemed to work for her, as she went on to find fame working with Ronnie Barker in Porridge and Going Straight in the 1970's. She always seemed to remain forever young, but sadly on May 28th 2022 she died of breast cancer at the unbelievable age of 79. But she will always remain fondly in the memory for those who remember her in all those classics from her golden period.
