I hope no one minds me telling this story from my youth again.
My first partner and I lived in a house very close to a main road. It was a typical UK pre-war semi with big bay windows to the front for the lounge and main bedroom. The ground level of the house was a few feet below the level of the road. This meant that anybody standing at the bus stop opposite could see straight into our bedroom. I remember being able to see in all the bedrooms in the street whenever I pulled up in my car.
One night when I went to bed, I found my girlfriend had already undressed and was pottering about the bedroom in the nude. The only remarkable thing about that was that the lights were on and the curtains were wide open. As it was dark outside and our bedroom light bright, she was as exposed as a stripper on a workingmen's club stage.
I told her that she’d forgotten to close the curtains. She acted shocked and dropped to the floor as if she’d been shot by sniper. I walked across the room and shut the curtains for her. I don’t recall seeing anybody in street outside, but I probably wasn’t looking that hard as it would normally have been deserted at that time of night.
In those days, I was young and credulous so I firmly believed she had genuinely forgotten to close the curtains. Now that I’m old and cynical, I am not so sure.
I don’t think she did it to tease me. If that been the case she wouldn’t have dropped to the floor so dramatically and milked the situation more. I wouldn’t have minded that and probably would have enjoyed it.
Later, some of our neighbours said they all regularly put on exotic floor shows for the benefit of people waiting at the bus stop. One of the women jokingly said that perhaps I needed to pay more attention to satisfying my girlfriend’s needs.
My girlfriend was a slim and fit good looking twenty something, so seeing her naked would have been a treat for any man passing. There had been previous occasions when she’s shown exhibitionist tendencies. However, would she really get a buzz from giving some random drunk guy a cheap thrill on his way home from the pub nearby?
