Good point as usual, Anonjohn.
Because the "female gaze", as I see it, supposedly lacks the "lustful" characteristic attributed to men's "gaze"; women might feel it is not necessarily inappropriate. But it has elements of "assessment" and "comparison" that are not necessarily healthy either. I've talked about the large breasted woman at my resort. The first thing my wife did was assess her attractiveness: "I guess she will be popular with the men here"; then related them to her own breasts size: "I don't know if I would like having breasts that big..." and "at least I can go braless and still be comfortable..." I don't think many husbands would look at another man's penis, and have the same thoughts about it lol!
On another note; up until last year, my wife was vehemently opposed to shaving. She felt a light trim was more than enough. Then, out of the blue, she started shaving bald. That coincided with us spending a lot more time with nudist friends. Putting two and two together, I figured out that her pussy had been looked at by one of the other women (who are all bald), in a way that she felt was judgmental of her "pubic hairline." Making her self-conscious and leading to her decision to go bald. She has herself admitted to being conscious of the women in our group checking out each other's naked bodies and assessing each other's "naked esthetics."
But it's not necessarily a bad thing either. My wife keep herself in shape for nudism; not to appeal to the men folks, but rather to elicit a positive assessment from the other women. Ironically, my wife would not have gotten to her current level of comfort being naked socially without the "female gaze."
