1) The Guy who Maintains Equipment is usually called a "Repairman" or Mechanic/Electrician/Plumber depending on the task.
2) Gas (petrol) Station Attendants are, very sadly, a thing of the past and would usually be called "Garage Hand/Mechanic/Pump Operator".
3)Like "ordinary" & "normal". A British Housewife would be "ordinary", "normal" suggesting some "ailment". Whereas an American Housewife would prefer "normal", "ordinary" hinting at something "un-natural"
4)The only thing that separates Britain and America is a Common Language !
