At first, I didn't think I had ever seen a sheer shirt...but then I started thinking about it.
When we would go camping, I remember my aunt (my mom's sister) wearing sheer shirts quite a bit. She wore crop-tops without a bra, too. This was the 80s after all, so the guys wore crop-tops as well, ha!
I was at Target several years ago, and the guy in front of me was staring at the young women in front of him in line. I didn't understand why he was staring until I saw around him--one of them was wearing a sheer white top, her TINY areola and nipples perfectly visible. The other one was wearing a pink knit top with holes in it, and her long nipples were poking through perfectly. She also had tiny, light areola.
At the M@ll of America right after the pandemic, I was in line at Ch!potl3, and this very loud group of late-teens/early 20s came in behind me. One of the women was wearing a sheer black top with her HUGE dark pancake nipples visible. Her breasts were very saggy, yet the nipples pointed up. Of course I don't know for sure, but for some reason I feel like she didn't know it was sheer until she was standing perfectly under the spotlights.
My own wife didn't wear a bra, ever, for the first three years of our marriage. She wore thin tops all the time, some becoming sheer in sunlight. But her areola are the color of her skin, and her nipples are perfectly flat unless aroused, so you couldn't even tell, to be honest, but I knew! (After nursing two kids and 20 years later, though, her nipples are still perfectly flat, but her areola get really puffy, so anytime she is braless now it's extremely intriguing and obvious).
