About your other points I fully agree, for both rides were a shit show in regard to the running of the events

but the police escort in Brighton did help keep the group together as a rule
I noticed that several of the long time marshals were absent in London and the ride really suffered for it. I can't begin to imagine how difficult it is to bring eight starts together - you really do need those with experience to keep things on an even keel. London did have a great atmosphere, though. I just wish I'd had another year like 2022, when I seemed to be in the right place most of the time. Gutted to have missed the water fun. Thankfully, plenty of others got snaps and footage there.

Not sure why Nick Sayers gave up organising Brighton but the ride has nothing of the fun element it had back then. The new organisers spend most in the time in the Facebook group harping on about 'nuisance photographers' but what they're alluding to is primarily the mostly Asian males with smartphones and vid cameras who crowd in around (almost always) female participants. You always get the best shots by interacting with the riders. It's rare to encounter anyone who doesn't want to be snapped if you behave respectfully, as the vast majority of people with 'big zoom lenses' do.
