I had this guy help me find a few more items and when my gf went away again he commented that I had a "lovely girlfriend" and that I was a "lucky guy".
I think it's a pretty good way of doing the whole "accidental" showing him although not everyone will notice and not everyone will have a reaction even if they do notice.
