Image Programs
Never believe that you have to PAY to get good image programs. Of course, for those of us, who must tweek the snot out of every pic, there's no substitute for PhotoShop, but IrfanView is the SHIAT when it comes to viewing and basic functions like BMP to Jpeg. It even allows you to select the compression ratio (the less compression, the less chewed up the image is, but the bigger the file -- I like BIG FILES!).
Consumer Reports just rated photo software, and in the FREE section, they liked PICASA (Goggle's freeware) and Irfanview. ACDSee is good to but not free.
