I think a lot of women have experienced that same sense of "liberation" when shaving completely. And so legs started opening up more. But I also think variety is great: "modestly" hairy pubes or totally bald; it's all good as long as everyone is comfortable. Both should be accepting of each other.

As for ' "ladylike" posture', the only way my wife can relax is to lie on a recliner with knees up and legs wide apart. That's how she sleeps and that's how she relaxes at nudist venues, so that's what you see if you look her way. And since her labia are naturally parted there's quite a bit to see.
