Remember the flap over the "Star Trek Into Darkness" (2013) underwear scene with actor Alice Eve? the director actually APOLOGIZED- publicly- for including an underwear scene.

Likewise, in "Return of the Living Dead" (1985) Linnea Quigley (arguably the first post modern scream queen of nudity along with Barbara Crampton) gets nude in a cemetery. We all remember her nude dance on the burial vault with fondness I'm sure

Anyway, in the commentary on the DVD release, the director second guesses his artistic choice, and states for the sake of "fairness" he should have had one of the male characters undress as well.

Applying current standards and views and retro fitting them to past events is nothing new I guess.
The Star Trek director should have apologized for making that entire film. The Alice Eve underwear scene was the only good thing in it. The nudity in Return of the Living Dead made Linnea Quigley's career, and we didn't even know she wore a modesty patch. Everyone thought she'd shaved off all of her pubic hair, which was unheard of at the time. The Barbara Crampton Reanimator full frontal scene was incredible. I saw that film when it first came out, and the entire theater gasped when they put the severed head between her legs. Barbara Crampton sarcastically refers to that as "her mother's favorite scene".
The actor who played the severed head caught flak from his wife over it, too. According to Barbara Crampton, she turned to him during the screening and said with disgust "How could you?" They sure don't make 'em like that anymore.
