What got me started on ENF? Funnily enough, it was a real life pranking of a girl I saw on Don't Forget Your Toothbrush in 1995, when host Chris Evans decided to prank one of his female staff on the show for the final episode with a hidden camera stunt. The poor girl was called Lisa, and it involved installing a hidden camera in her toilet to catch her out. She had no idea she had even been filmed, let alone what they were planning when they got her up onstage, only for them to play the hidden camera footage featuring her bare bottom - and sound effects - to the entire audience, as well as 6 million plus viewers at home, as it was all being broadcast live. She could do little about it but take it on the chin like a sport. I was only a teenager back then, but it led to a realization that ANYTHING was possible and NOTHING was seemingly off limits back then. And that was a startling revelation to me as a teenager.
The only other thing off hand that I think that came close in pranks in a film is the famous "Shower prank" from M*A*S*H (1970) that they play on Hot Lips (Sally Kellerman), who was just as mortified doing the scene as her character was being exposed like that to the camp. Again, that was outrageous to me as a teen thinking that people would prank a woman like that, but it taught me that in the world of pranking girls were considered just as much fair game as chaps. Both videos of the scenes I mentioned, by the way, can be found on my ENF - Embarrassing Pranks in TV & Film thread here, if you wished to check them out:
