Bloomers were named after Amelia Bloomer (see photo), who advocated for less restrictive women's underwear, but did not actually invent them. Similar to Thomas Crapper, the namesake, but not the inventor of the flush toilet. That distinction goes to German inventors Alois Sheissestuhl and Ludwig Von Poopenhausen.
