Last September, I wrote about a couple in an apartment opposite mine when I lived in New York who were naked ALL the time despite the lack of curtains before their furnishings arrived a couple of weeks after they moved in. At the time, I thought they were just oblivious to what their neighbors could see, but it occurs to me they must have had some idea since for their several daily fucks they usually (but not always) retired to a darkened bedroom.

Jump forward twenty years, and where I live now my apartment backs onto a similar apartment block as well as some substantial townhouses. A woman in an apartment opposite showers every evening and spends five or ten minutes before and after preening, etc., naked in her well-lit bathroom with no curtains.

More recently, for the past year, the daughter of the family in one of the townhouses has also started taking nightly showers, before and after which she hangs out naked in her room or leaning out the window to smoke. My guess, from the family set-up, her tattoos and lack of public hair, that she is in her late teens or very early twenties. (The woman in the apartment opposite, who has a full bush but no tattoos, could be as old as her early thirties.)

Both women must have some idea that they can be seen, though there is nothing else in their behavior or body language to suggest they're deliberately putting on a show. As for the younger one, I've noticed that when her boyfriend (who is astoundingly well-endowed, by the way) stays over, the lights go out and the blind is pulled down as soon as they start to get affectionate.

Are people just getting more nonchalant about being seen naked by their neighbors?
