The REAL reason Raquel didn't want to appear in her bra and panties (or nude), was because she was hiding her Latina heritage. She didn't want even a hint of nipple or pubic hair on display. Lingerie at the time (especially panties) was somewhat transparent. To paraphrase Raquel; her nipples and vulva are very dark, and she has an abundance of thick black pubic hair. Crazy as it sounds today, she thought that this would "give her away" as a woman of Hispanic descent, and her career would be ruined. She said this in an interview, many years later.
