BBC Blooper Xmas Tape (1979)
From Australian blooper tapes to the UK outtakes Xmas tapes, and this video comes from the BBC Xmas tape from 1979. These sort of tapes came about when the technicians would collect up the outtakes and compile them into a clips tape for their amusement come Xmas time. The BBC surprisingly doesn't seem to of thought of the idea until they heard that ITV regularly did them, and in 1979 compiled their first ever Xmas Blooper tape, which they called "Good King Memorex." This video contains the naughtier bits of it, starting with a photo of a topless girl described as "a piece of goodwill" before popping up with a variety of different nudity moments from shows I do not know, as well as from a naked beauty contest, a girl sunbathing naked on the beach from one of those holiday shows (did they ever know or realize they would be shown on national TV, I wonder?), a clip of Englebert Humperdinck with a gaggle of Top of the Pops dancers (with the director asking the cameraman to get a nice clean shot, before it then zooms up on one of the girl's backsides), and also some TOTP dancers then doing a song and dance routine among the cameramen in their office entitled "Nice Legs - Shame about the Face." The ITV Xmas tape from 1979 to follow this...
