I've been fortunate to experience it several times too, on beaches or the occasional body paint workshop at festivals. More CFNM than TFNM and each has its charm. Although I prefer NFNM, variation is the spice of life.
Now for the embarrassment ingredient: It's funny how you sometimes practice different cultures with different groups of friends. With the regulars I know at festivals, it's a matter of course that most of us are nude at lakes and beaches, including me. When going to the beach with people from the "normal", prudish mainstream world, we always go to a textile beach.
Once I had a female friend visiting me for a couple of days at a festival and it was slightly weird, because wearing swimwear at the lake on the festival grounds would feel strange, as I had always been naked there with the other participants. Being naked would feel strange too, because my visiting friend wore a swimsuit and I had never been naked in her company. With both alternatives going to feel strange, I chose the comfortable and practical one, and got naked. It felt embarrassing in the beginning, although surprisingly in an enjoyable way.
Sometimes when I see her these days, I think about the fact that the other year, she saw me naked all the time during our lake visits at that festival. It makes me smile inside.
