yes, I get this problem often and I have to zoom in extremely for the autofocus to realize what I want to take...
I guess it is due to the contrast between the object and the background not being very high under the glaring sun...
the problem is also that I cannot understand at that moment that the pic is out of focus
not very easy zooming in/out...
