Yeah, that's true. I've been in Dutch/German saunas countless times, and I don't think I've ever seen a full-on boner. I've seen some semis, but I think that people are wise enough to cover up quickly, if they're unlucky and get an erection.

If I think of myself, I can remember having an erection only twice. The other erection happened when I was wearing a bathrobe, so no one knew. The other happened on my first visit to a German sauna. I was in a pool, when an aufgüss session ended in one of the saunas. I was sitting in the pool, when I saw a large amount of naked people coming out of the opposite sauna, and because I wasn't used to that sight, I got an erection in the pool. I don't think anyone knew about that either, because I managed to kill off most of my erection in the pool and walked out only with a semi. I have had a semi-erection also a couple of times, but it's not that bad, because my semi just looks like I'd have a large penis, and it's not that dangerous if you just cover it up quickly and don't show it around.

But yeah, I think that getting an erection would be ok, as long as you try to hide it, and are not showing it around. Accidents can happen, and people usually understand. But showing an erect penis to someone or showing that you're proud of your erection? That would be a quick way to get thrown out. I've seen some people (always foreign guys in Germany) getting in trouble with the security, so that can really happen, and I don't recommend that to anyone. It's much nicer to behave well and bathe like locals.

And having sex in a public sauna is definitely out of question too - those spas are calm and quiet places, and anything that could disrupt that is not accepted. I guess many people have sex (I have had too) at their homes after a sauna visit, but that's a different thing! When in public, you have to behave and be quiet.
