I am pretty sure that's why my sister in law wears thickly padded, oversized bras---as a way to preserve her modesty---but the reality is that she shows everyone her nips pretty much every day when she sits down and/or bends over because of all the space that there is between her boobs and her bra cups! (But when she is standing and looking at herself in the mirror, she feels like everything is great as nothing is up against her body, giving anything away.)
I had a friend in college who we argued a bit about how often LESS shows when going braless. I remember one time at her house during summer break I had her pick a random dress from her closet. I told her to wear it once with a bra and once without, bending over, sitting, stretching, moving around, etc, and watch herself in a mirror. I told her I wanted to be part of it, but she did it alone She came out of the bathroom red in the face and said I was right--much less was showing when she was braless.
She went braless for years after that in pretty much everything in terms of dresses and outfits that she felt made sense.
