You've got a good thing going here - I wouldn't blow it up by reaching too far
L doesn't strike me as the timid sort of person who won't make something happen if she wants it to. If she wants S involved, I'd let her breach that subject. Sounds to me like letting her lead on this is already the direction you are leaning towards, so mostly I just want to encourage you to listen to that little voice
