It's called the "striptease effect"; and it's considered as having a
low-key sexual connotation. So it's typically avoided.
At nudist resorts, I'm usually indicated to go undress - preferably by my car - after checking in. Or just check in nude if I'm a frequent guest.
It doesn't really make much sense but a lot of nudist etiquette doesn't either.
