Angela Scoular and Barry Evans had previously appeared together in Here We Go Round the Mulberry Bush (1967) (a video of which I posted in the Breast Strokes thread a few days ago), but they reunited 9 years later in the far more racy and revealing Adventures of a Taxi Driver in 1976 (which also starred Mulberry co star Judy Geeson, funnily enough). Evans found fame in these cheeky chappie roles, as well as in TV's Doctor in the House and Mind Your Language in the 1970's, while Angela found fame in the 1967 TV adaptation of Wuthering Heights. In this clip Evans (as the title character) ends up having to break into Angela's house after she forgets her key, using the ladder propped against the window, only for both to accidently get covered with paint. Naturally she runs a bath for him, before then stripping off and getting in with him (as you do).

Angela had previously given glimpses of her breasts before in Here We Go Round the Mulberry Bush, On Her Majesty's Secret Service (1969) and Doctor in Love (1970), but here you get to see absolutely everything! No blushes are spared in this film, and the bath scene itself is quite long, due to the fact that her husband (Last of the Summer Wine's Foggy Dewhurst, aka Brian Wilde, no less!) turns up unexpectedly and keeps interrupting her in the bath as Evans hides underneath her so he doesn't see him. Considering Angela's body issues she had, this is quite a brave role for her, and shows off quite a fine body on her.

Sadly both Evans and Scoular died fairly young and in tragic circumstances. For Evans, he struggled to find work after Mind Your Language ended in 1986 and he lost his boyish looks, and ironically was working as a cab driver when he was found dead in his house after reporting that his car had been stolen. He was only 53. Angela meanwhile married Leslie Phillips and found new fame in the TV series You Rang M'lud from 1988-93. However, she suffered from mental problems and anorexia throughout her life and she committed suicide by drinking drain cleaner in 2011. She was 65. A sad end for two people for whom on screen will remain forever young.
