There was a porn theater "complex" in a city I used to live in —The Notorious Faust Theater in St. Paul, MN— that had a sot of combination of a typical auditorium theater as well as video booths and live show booths, and a book store as well, all in one complex.
The live show show booths were more than a little interesting: arranged in a circle around a platform, one dropped a quarter in the slot and the lights around the falls changed so that you could see in. A nude woman in the center would come to the window that was activated and and if one put a bill through he tip slot put on a show for the viewer. It was the sort of place where if you dropped something you would best to simply let it lie on the floor since guys jacked off and came in the booths.
From time to time name performers appeared there. I recall in particular Hyapatia Lee. One of her movies played in the theater, and she appeared in a fairly normal strip show in the theater, and afterward posed for Polaroids with patrons. She also worked the live show booth.
Considering that in those days porn was far less ubiquitous than it is now it was a very popular place.
