Back in the 70s, we used to visit friends in Ben Lomond, CA (near San Jose). Big house on a steep hill. Lots of bedrooms occupied by various hippie renters, owned by a resident Astronomer. Most time we didn't have to sleep on the the floor, because one of the renters (a cute Asian girl) would be sleeping with the landlord, so we could sleep in her room.
