Landslide (1937)
This clip is from the dusty archives of 1937, from the UK film Landslide, which is notable for a very early appearance from Dinah Sheridan (Genevieve, The Railway Children, etc). However, it is the lady who features in this clip - Elizabeth Inglis - who may catch American viewers attentions, for she is none other than Sigourney Weaver's mum! She is some looker too, playing a slightly snooty actress in a radio play in Wales who gets stuck in a landslide with her co-stars. Her airs and graces hold little sway with the stage manager, who in this scene pats her bum to get her attention, much to her annoyance. For Inglis, (who had a small role in The 39 Steps) her biggest role was in The Letter in 1940 (now as Elizabeth Earl), before retiring from the screen in 1945. She did make an appearance in daughter Sigourney's film Aliens in 1986, before eventually passing away in 2007 at the age of 94.
